In the city

This is an unusual three-seater version of the Torpedo, the usual model being a two-seater. It corresponded to Mathis’ aims, which were to build vehicles that were light, robust and economical while maintaining all the technical advantages of larger motor cars of the time. To rationalize the assembly of chassis and engines, Emile Mathis had assembly lines built on the Meinau site (between the present-day car dealer Citroën to the Plaine des Bouchers). Car bodies were a composite of wood and sheet metal and could be built to customers’ requirements.
